Michael Rinehart
Meet Lieutenant Michael Rinehart
Office of Investigations - Research and Development Employee Development and Training
Michael grew up in Elk Grove, California, attended Elk Grove High School, and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Sacramento State University.
Michael joined Sac PD in 2005 and has worked in Patrol, South Crime Suppression Unit, Investigations, and as a Negotiator on the Crisis Negotiation Team. Michael was promoted to sergeant in 2017, where he worked in patrol, North Marijuana Compliance Team, South POP, and the Internal Affairs Division.
Michael is the recipient of the department’s Employee of the Quarter Award in 2013, the Patriotic Employee Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense in 2018, the department’s Unit Citation in 2021, and the FBI LEEDA Trilogy Award in 2023.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, and friends, vacationing, DIY house projects, and coaching his kids in travel baseball and softball.
