Tod Bevins
Meet Lieutenant Tod Bevins
Office of Operations - East Command
Lieutenant Tod Bevins began his career with the Sacramento Police Department in 2006. He is currently assigned as a Watch Commander in our East Command. Tod was previously assigned to the department’s IMPACT Unit, which oversees the department’s response to homelessness in Sacramento.
Before achieving the rank of lieutenant in 2024, Tod served as a patrol officer and spent five years as a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team. In 2017, he was promoted to sergeant and spent time in patrol and later supervised the department’s Real Time Information Center, the Auto-Theft Unit, and the Career Criminal Apprehension Team.
Tod was born and raised in Sacramento. He attended Sacramento High School and Sacramento City College before transferring to UCLA where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.

As a police officer, he has continued his professional development by completing classes including POST Supervisor School, and the Sacramento Police Department’s Front Line Leadership Course, and is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute.
Tod represented SPD in the annual Guns and Hoses charity football game for eleven years as a player and still enjoys being active in competitive sports.
Outside of work, Tod enjoys spending time with his wife and children, coaching T-ball, attending sporting events and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
