One City, One Future
Focused action for a better Sacramento
About
One City, One Future is how the City of Sacramento connects its priorities, its plans, and its results so residents can see what we are working on, why it matters, and whether we are making progress.
The Plan
Sacramento is setting clear priorities and advancing them through strategic initiatives.
The Priorities Strategic Workplan names a vision for each priority, the focus areas that organize the effort, the objectives departments are committing to, and the specific initiatives now underway. It answers a simple question: what are we doing, and why does it matter?
The framework at a glance:
3 Council Priorities · 10 Focus Areas · 13 Objectives
31 Strategic Initiatives · 8 pilot departments · 2-year implementation
Index
3 priorities. 10 focus areas. 31 initiatives.
Here is what the City committed to and the work now moving under each priority.
How it works
One plan. Three connected parts.
-

In September 2025, the City Council set three priorities: Economic Development, Public Safety, and Homelessness—guiding the City's work ahead.
-
The How: Priorities Strategic Workplan
The Strategic Workplan turns those priorities into action: vision, focus areas, objectives, and initiatives—what we're doing and why it matters.
-
The Proof: SacramentoSTAT
SacramentoSTAT is how the City tracks progress: leaders review data with the City Manager, and results are published here for residents.

What comes next
It names the direction, the commitments, and the work. What it does not yet include is the measurement layer — the targets and data that will tell you whether these initiatives are working.
That layer is being built with departments right now. A performance system only delivers if the people responsible for it understand it, believe in it, and have the tools to use it. Building that takes time, training, and trust.
