James Harrington
Meet Captain James Harrington
Office of Operations – East Command
Captain James Harrington began his career with the Sacramento Police Department in 2002. He currently oversees the East Command and previously served as Captain of the Support Services Division, managing the Communications Center and the Records Section. He has also been a Watch Commander for East and South Commands, and he has worked as a Detective, in Crime Scene Investigations, Internal Affairs, Professional Standards, and as a member of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.
James is a U.S. Army Veteran and has also served as an adjunct professor of Emergency Services Management. He is a graduate of Boston University with a master’s degree in Criminal Justice. He has completed Senior Management for Police-by-Police Executive Research Forum, the POST Executive Development Course, and holds a POST Management Certificate.
James was drawn to a career with the Sacramento Police Department to serve his community and keep people safe, including his own family here in his hometown.
