Sacramento Valley Station is excited to share that construction activity is now underway for the overall site, Central Shops Plaza, and future entertainment venue—marking significant progress toward enhancing access, amenities, and connectivity in the growing Railyards District.
Crews have started early site work across the SVS site and plaza area, including preparation for the upcoming public spaces and venue improvements that will strengthen pedestrian connections and support the continued revitalization of the historic Central Shops District. Crews have started early site work on the Central Shops Plaza area that will become an exciting public space for the new entertainment area anchored by a performance venue in the former Paint Shop building, the oldest building in the Railyards. The plaza will be activated with new ground uses in the historic buildings and a new retail pavilion across from the Paint Shop.
The SVS North Entrance is a separately funded project through the state Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) that is administered by the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) in partnership with the California Air Resources Board (CARB). This new entrance, with a direct connection to between the new plaza and the SVS passenger tunnel, will provide rail and transit users access to a new vibrant urban destination in the Central Shops area and also proximate access to the new Kaiser Medical Facility and Sacramento Republic stadium along with an expanding and growing list of destinations as the Railyards District develops and SVS services expand.
