Meet Lieutenant Sameer Sood
Office of Specialized Services – Metro Division - Impact
Lieutenant Sameer Sood is currently assigned to the Impact Unit in the Office of Specialized Services. He previously oversaw the Traffic/Air Ops Unit in our Metro Division. Sameer also served as the Executive Lieutenant of our Central Command. His other assignments include Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, South POP Officer, South Gang Enforcement Team (GET) Officer, Internal Affairs Investigator, South GET Sergeant, Cops N Clergy Sergeant, and Watch Commander. Prior to joining SPD, Sameer was a high school history teacher.
Sameer graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in History and a single subject teaching credential. He completed the POST Management Course.

Sameer’s department awards include a Bronze Medal of Valor and Unit Citation.
Sameer was drawn to a career in law enforcement because of his desire to serve. The level of professionalism and concern towards community made him choose SPD over several other agencies.
