Hart Fun Program

What is the hart fun pass?

The Hart Fun Pass is a fee waiver program for seniors unable to pay for participation in fee-based recreation programs sponsored by the Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment.

These programs range from art, writing, fitness classes, computer instruction, sports programs, day trips, and $100 towards a week-long camp in the Sierras.

Programs are offered at various locations throughout the city including several community centers and the Ethel MacLeod Hart Senior Center in midtown Sacramento. A complete listing of program offerings can be found in the seasonal Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment “Come Out and Play” Recreation Guide available at community centers and libraries throughout Sacramento.

A resident who applies and qualifies for the program receives a $100 credit to be used during a calendar year toward their chosen City-sponsored leisure opportunities.

How is the hart fun pass program funded?

Ethel MacLeod Hart left a generous donation to the City of Sacramento in the 1990’s for the “use, enjoyment and comfort of Sacramento seniors.” This donation was used to create the E.M. Hart Trust Fund. A portion of the trust fund has been used to establish the Fun Pass Program. Ensuring that all older adults have opportunities for fun is viewed as a fine way to carry on Mrs. Hart’s legacy.

Who can take part in the hart fun pass program?

Hart Fun Passes can be used by any resident of the City of Sacramento age 50 who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in a recreation program. If you are unable to participate in a recreation program because of limited financial resources, the Hart Fun Pass Program is for you!
