Services for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing or Speech Disabled

Text-to-911 is available to all Sacramento residents and visitors. Text-to-911 provides direct access to our 911 Center for citizens who are deaf, hard of hearing or speech disabled.

In addition, citizens who are not able to make a non-emergency voice call to the Sacramento Police Department (SPD), can email the SPD's Communication Center directly. This email address is directed into the 911 Center.

Deaf or hard of hearing callers to 911 or the Police Department can also use a relay provider, a list of these providers can be found on the Federal Communication Commission's (FCC) website.

SPD encourages all residents to sign-up for our eNotify Alert System, as well as the County's Community Emergency Notification System. The Community Emergency Notification System is a robust notification system that can deliver text or email messages. It is designed to alert our community and neighborhoods of critical public safety information such as missing persons, evacuations, shelter-in-place orders, and critical law enforcement activity in a neighborhood. At times, non-emergency information related to public safety, such as a crime series, is relayed.
