From its Indigenous Native Californian roots to the immigrants who came to California seeking prosperity and adventure, to Sacramento’s diverse cultures today, the Sacramento History Museum in Old Sacramento showcases Sacramento's rich and vibrant history. Located in the replicated 1854 City Hall and Waterworks Building, the Museum features events, programs and exhibits that explore Sacramento’s past, revealing its people and sharing their stories. The Museum is also home to the popular Underground Tours, taking visitors outside to discover the hidden city, and learn the story of how early Sacramentans raised the streets and built the levees to protect the City from flood.

The History Museum is partially funded by both the City and County of Sacramento.
