Project Overview

The Arden Way-Auburn Boulevard Mobility Plan includes both Arden Way (from Del Paso Boulevard to Ethan Way) and Auburn Boulevard / Harvard Street (from Marconi Circle to Arden Way).

This plan will reimagine how people travel on these sections of Arden Way and Auburn Boulevard - whether walking, biking, driving, or taking transit - and explore strategies to reduce injuries and fatalities.

Why These Corridors?

The project area is part of Sacramento’s Vision Zero High Injury Network, meaning they experience some of the highest number of fatal and serious crashes in the City. With support from a Caltrans Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant, this plan will identify realistic, community-supported solutions to create accessible and inclusive streets for all.

The Arden Way and Auburn Boulevard Vision Zero and Mobility Plan will focus on:

  • Reducing transportation injuries and fatalities
  • Expanding access to walking, biking, and transit
  • Addressing community-identified challenges
  • Supporting future housing and job growth
  • Improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Stay tuned for details about Phase 3 community engagement efforts, planned for Fall 2026.

Previous Community Engagement Opportunities

Phase 1: February - March 2026

Community Workshop: On March 11, 2026 the City hosted a community workshop to listen and learn from community members about their experiences traveling in the project area.

Online Survey: More than 130 community members participated in an online survey, which was available in English and Spanish, from March 9 - 31, 2026. They provided input on their experiences traveling in the project area.

Pop-up Workshops: The City held two pop-up workshops to reach community members where they already gather; the first was on March 21 at Arden Fair Mall, and the second was on March 24 at the Swanston* Light Rail Station.
Due to Blue Line service disruptions and platform construction, the March 24th pop-up originally planned at the Arden / Del Paso Light Rail Station was moved to the Swanston Light Rail Station.

Phase 2: May - June 2026

Community Workshop: On Wednesday, May 20 the City and project team shared draft improvement ideas for the Arden Way & Auburn Boulevard project area.

Pop-up Workshops: The City held five pop-up workshops to reach community members where they already travel and gather; these took place at the Arden/Del Paso Light Rail Station, Royal Oaks Light Rail Station, Swanston Light Rail Station, Celebrate North Sacramento Festival, and North Sacramento Mobile Farmers Market.

Online Workshop: Community members were able to review draft concepts and provide feedback in an online workshop from May 19 through June 19. The project team received more than 120 comments.
