Things to consider before calling

Here are some helpful questions to think about before calling the lab:

  • Where is the problem occurring?
  • How long have you been experiencing the problem?
  • Is the problem happening right now?
  • Is the problem occurring at all faucets?
  • Is the problem occurring on hot water, cold water, or both?
  • Are neighbors experiencing the same problem?

Common call types

The water quality lab receives about 100 calls per year about water quality issues:

  • 40 percent of calls are related to taste and odor
  • 30 percent of calls are related to color
  • 22 percent of calls are related issues like hard water, etc.
  • 4 percent of calls are related to solids
  • 3 percent of calls are related to claimed illness
  • 1 percent of calls are related to turbidity
