Access Leisure Sports

Access Leisure’s Adaptive sports program provides opportunities for people with physical disabilities to participate in sports, recreation and camps. Our programs range from adaptive cycling to wheelchair sports to aqua aerobics. We look forward to seeing you at our next event.

Access leisure adaptive sports

  • Aqua Aerobics & Social Swim - Welcome back to summer, let’s head to the pool! This session is great for all abilities. The pool has a chair lift & a zero depth entry (like the beach 😊). Staff will lead participants in an aqua aerobics session, followed by time for free swim, socializing, and enjoying the water features.
  • Baseball - Baseball programs for children, youth and adults spring/summer program runs annually from April through June. The Fall program runs September and October. All events are held at River Cats Independence Field (RCIF). Loaner sport wheelchairs are available during all RCIF programs.
  • Challenge Sports - Calling all beginning or experienced, new or returning School-Age Athletes with Special Needs! If you want to get active, improve your coordination, meet great new friends and be part of a team, chances are Challenge has a fun sport that will interest you.
  • Cycling Program - Come join in this fun and exciting sport that can be shared with family and friends while providing excellent health benefits. We continue to add new rides and join with established events for another exciting cycling season. A limited number of handcycles and tandems will be available for use w/ reservation. Dates, times, and locations varies for each ride.
  • Power Soccer - Power Soccer is the first competitive team sport designed and developed specifically for power wheelchair users. These participants include persons with quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, head trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury and other disabilities.
  • RCIF Youth Baseball Program - River Cats Independence Field is a fully-accessible baseball field made of a rubberized surface ideal for players with disabilities that use manual or power wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, or no assistive devices, to "Play Ball!? Come out and have fun with friends and family. This program is for children, youth and young adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities.
  • SF Giants Wheelchair Softball -These practices are designed for our elite athletes with physical disabilities who wants to play for the SF Giants Wheelchair softball team and compete at the highest level.
  • Wheelchair / Quad Rugby - Wheelchair or Quad Rugby is a fast paced and competitive sport for individuals with physical disabilities affecting all four extremities.

Here are some things you need to know before attending any programs:

  • Stay home if you have tested positive for COVID-19 or are waiting on test results, are showing COVID-19 symptoms, or have had a close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Bring your own equipment, like gloves, head gear, helmets, water bottles, and bats, if possible, to limit shared equipment.
  • Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) from other players when possible.
  • Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help protect yourself and others.
  • Clean or sanitize your hands before and after practices, games, and sharing equipment.
  • Tell a coach or staff member if you don’t feel well.
  • We will wipe off frequently touched surfaces, equipment, or gear with disinfectants before and after use.
