Meet Lieutenant Justin Thompson
Office of Strategy and Compliance - Administrative Services
Lieutenant Justin Thompson began his career with the Sacramento Police Department in 2006. He is currently assigned to the Office of Strategy and Compliance Administrative Services. As a Lieutenant he has previously worked in Office of Operations, Central Command. Justin has also worked in Patrol, the Crime Suppression Unit, Criminal Intelligence Unit, Gang Enforcement Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, and Internal Affairs. In 2017, he was promoted to sergeant, and then in the fall of 2023 he promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
Justin has a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from California Polytechnic State University (2005).
In 2020 and then in 2021, Justin was the recipient of the department's Unit Citation Award for his work with our Crisis Negotiation Team and Gang Enforcement Team.
Off-duty Justin enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, coaching youth sports, and playing his guitar.
