Jennifer Ligon
Meet Captain Jennifer Ligon
Office of Investigations
Captain Jennifer Ligon began her career with SacPD in 2006. As an officer, she worked in Patrol, Crime Suppression, Regional Transit, and Internal Affairs. In 2014, Jennifer was promoted to sergeant.
As a sergeant, she supervised several patrol teams, the Family Abuse/SACA Unit, and the Felony Assaults Unit. In 2021, Jennifer was promoted to lieutenant and served as the Executive Lieutenant of our Central Command. In 2024, Jennifer was promoted to captain and assigned to oversee the Personnel Services Division in the Office of Investigations. Jennifer previously oversaw the Special Services division in the Office of the Chief. She is currently the Acting Deputy Chief for the Office on Investigations while Deputy Chief Bales is the department's Interim Chief.

Jennifer earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies from Gavilan Junior College and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from California State University Sacramento. Her professional development classes and certifications include the Sacramento Police Department Front Line Leadership Course, Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (Class 422), POST Supervisor School and POST Management Course. Jennifer is an Academy Instructor and was a member of the Honor Guard for 11 years.
Jennifer has been awarded a Unit Citation for her work on the Honor Guard Team, the FBI Director’s Award and has been recognized as the Employee of the Quarter.
Jennifer is married with a son. She enjoys spending time with her family, working out, and being outdoors.
