What is Sustainability Starts with Us?

"Sustainability Starts with Us" is a city-wide campaign dedicated to advancing climate equity and fostering a culture of sustainability throughout Sacramento, in line with the City’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.

This campaign is part of the Office of Climate Action & Sustainability's work to demystify sustainability and climate action, partner on inclusive community engagement, and collaborate on meaningful action. We aim to sustain the city of Sacramento as a thriving, resilient community, especially in our historically disinvested communities where the effects of climate change on residents are most challenging.

We recognize that achieving sustainability requires sustained commitment from each of us, and will greatly benefit each of us and generations to come. We hope to empower all Sacramento community members to take impactful steps towards addressing climate change alongside the ongoing efforts led by the City.

Make Your Mark community painting

"Make Your Mark" is a community art project that shows the expected increase in extreme heat days in Sacramento and what we can do as a community.

All ages and skill-levels are encouraged to co-create this large abstract painting. Our local artist in residence, Taner Pasamehmetoglu, will guide the process. All painting materials will be provided, including upcycled paint.

The final painting will be shared soon!
