Meter & Space Reservations allow the reservation of parking spots. These spots are in City-approved parking zones or meters.
Sign postings must be up at least 72 hours before the event or project starts. The City of Sacramento will request enforcement. They will also ask for vehicle removal in areas with proper signs.
Approval of City permits for construction projects or special events that allow obstructions on the street will not include exclusive use of any parking spaces.
If exclusive use of parking spaces within the permit area are needed, then a separate reservation of those parking spaces through the Parking Services Division is required. This will ensure spaces are clear for use.
Vehicles parked within the reserved spaces must display the provided permit placard. Trash bins or construction equipment require reserved spaces. Reservation of space cannot be secured for personal use.
Separate permits must obtained prior to submitting a Meter & Space Reservation application.
Street construction permits are required.

Permits are required to hold special events on city streets.
Application must be submitted no less than 10 business days from the start date. Applications submitted less than 10 days before the start date will be automatically charged an Expedite Fee.
Expedite Fees do not guarantee the spaces will be approved in time. Spaces may already be reserved or cannot be accommodated.
Please allow up to two weeks for an application request response. Requests are processed in the order received.

Once the application is approved. Customer can post required signs within required time frame.
If applicant requested the city include posting costs: No other action is needed.

Charter buses for tours, events, or school field trips visiting the downtown Sacramento area do not need Meter & Space Reservations.
There are designated free bus parking zones throughout the city. Parking lots may require payment.
Bus drivers may drop passengers off safely near the venue, then park at one of the designated bus parking areas until passengers are ready for pick-up. If a reserved space is needed, please apply for a Meter & Space Reservation.
