City operations tax
Only charged if a California licensed contractor is the permit holder.
Fire Department plan review fee
This fee is exclusively calculated and assessed by the Fire Department and varies based on the number of hours expended in Fire Plan Review. Plan review would only be necessary if it was known at submission that the proposed sign would interfere with an existing fire suppression system.
Fire Department administrative fee
This fee is exclusively calculated and assessed by the Fire Department. Necessary only if the previous fee and circumstances apply.
Landscape review fee
Charged if the submitted plans include landscape sheets.
Plan review - hourly
Hourly based on the number of hours spent reviewing the deferred plan set.
Public works fee
This fee is only charged when the scope of the Sign Permit application requires Development Engineering review and approval. Usually this would be due to the proposed sign location. If a sign will encroach into the public way Development Engineering should review the application. This fee is calculated by Public Works Staff in the Development Engineering section. The fee is a function of the number of plan review hours expended reviewing the project.
Sign electrical fee
Charged anytime a permit for an electrical sign is requested. These funds recover electrical plan review costs.
Sign plan review/engineering fee
Charged on an hourly bases for structural plan review (anchorage and footings) performed as part of a sign permit review.
Utilities fee
Utilities approval is rarely necessary for sign permit applications, one potential situation which could require it would be encroachment into a utilities easement. This fee is only charged when the scope of the sign permit requires Utilities review. This fee is calculated by Utilities Development Services section Staff. The fee is a function of the number of plan review hours expended reviewing the project.
