Measures That Have Qualified for the November 3, 2026 Ballot

Measure F - Sacramento City Employees’ Retirement System Termination Act

On July 21, 2026 the Sacramento City Council approved Charter amendment ballot language regarding the Sacramento City Employees’ Retirement System Termination Act, for placement on the November 3, 2026 general municipal election ballot.

On July 21, 2026 the City Council passed resolutions relating to the administrative approvals for a municipal election, selected authors for the argument in support of the measure, and set the regulations for ballot arguments.

Primary arguments for the Sacramento City Employees’ Retirement System Termination Act must be received by 5:00 PM on Friday July 31, 2026 in the Office of the City Clerk. (Located at New City Hall 915 I Street, 5th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814.) There are no exceptions to this deadline. When submitting Primary Arguments, in addition to a signed hardcopy, the form must also be typewritten and submitted electronically via email to: clerk@cityofsacramento.org. Both versions MUST be received prior to the deadline.

Both supporting and opposing arguments must be received in order for a rebuttal argument to be submitted. If arguments, both supporting and opposing the measure, are appropriately received, each side will be given the opportunity to provide a written rebuttal. The rebuttal arguments are due in the Office of the City Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 10, 2026.

Initiative Petitions Pending

City of Sacramento Safe Streets and Affordable Transit Measure of 2026

A Notice of Intent to Circulate Petition and Request for Title and Summary for Initiative Ordinance (City of Sacramento Safe Streets and Affordable Transit Measure of 2026) was filed by Sacramentans for Safe Streets and Affordable Transit (SafeSacPAC) in the Office of the City Clerk on February 20, 2026.

The City Attorney has prepared the Ballot Title and Summary which was submitted to the proponent on March 9, 2026.

The petition was deemed filed in the Office of the City Clerk on July 1, 2026.

On July 20, 2026 the Sacramento County Registrar of Voters completed their examination of signatures and has determined that the petition is insufficient.

Ranked Choice Voting for Sacramento Act

A Notice of Intent to Circulate Petition and Request for Title and Summary for Initiative Ordinance (Ranked Choice Voting for Sacramento Act) was filed by in the Office of the City Clerk on March 4, 2026.

The City Attorney has prepared the Ballot Title and Summary which was submitted to the proponent on March 18, 2026.
