Large Political Committees

The City of Sacramento has adopted regulations limiting the amount of contributions that individuals may give to candidates for the offices of Mayor and Council Member. These limits are outlined in City Code section 2.13.050 (A) and (B). Committees who meet the following criteria are considered a "Large Political Committee," and are eligible to contribute at a higher limit as outlined in City Code section , provided that they meet the following criteria as required by City Code section 2.13.040.

  • Has been in existence for more than six months
  • Received contributions from one hundred or more persons
  • Acts in concert to make contributions to one or more candidates for City elective office

Contribution reporting requirements

Sacramento City Code Section 2.13.055, requires that when acting as a Large Political Committee that the committee shall file the following information with the City Clerk for EVERY CONTRIBUTION:

Not less than seven calendar days prior to making a contribution to a candidate in an amount that itself or in combination with other contributions previously made to the candidate exceeds the amount that a person may contribute to a candidate pursuant to Sections 2.13.050(A)(1) and 2.13.050(B)(1), a large political committee shall file with the city clerk the following documents:
