The citywide goal of the Youth Workforce Development Unit is to empower young people with knowledge, resources, opportunities, and support to help them gain the fundamental skills needed when seeking employment. Through active engagement in these programs, young people practice newly acquired skills in safe, supportive environments.
Adult Allies provide coaching and mentoring to help participants learn to successfully navigate school, work, community, life’s choices, and day to day challenges.
Youth are supported in their development through five fundamental pathways of Youth Development:
- Safety
- Relationship Building
- Youth Participation
- Community Involvement
- Skill Building
Early adult outcomes include education, economic self-sufficiency, healthy family and social relationships, as well as positive contributions to the community.
