Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How do I apply for this program?

The website ActiveNet is used to enroll youth into our programming. You need to make an account before you can enroll your youth. The primary account needs to be parent/guardian information and then the youth can be added to the account. If you are having problems, you can contact program staff to assist.

Is there a mandatory Program Orientation that I will need to attend with my youth after applying?

Yes, youth that meets all the eligibility requirements will receive a Welcome Email that includes more information regarding the mandatory Program Orientation that both youth and parent/guardian must attend prior to first day of program.

How many times can a youth complete the program?

Youth may participate and complete the program up to a max of two times, while they meet the age eligibility.

My youth recently graduated from high school and is 17 years old and attending college. Am I still able to enroll my youth in the program?

Unfortunately, no as youth has graduated from high school and do not meet the requirement of being a current MS or HS student. If youth are 18 years old and still currently attending high school, they are eligible to participate.

My youth turns 13 years old in the middle of program, can they still join?

Unfortunately, no as youth must be 13 years old on the first day of program that they registered for. Your youth will have to wait and register for the next upcoming program session after they turn 13 years old.

Where can I find out if my youth lives within the city limits?

You may check to see if a youth’s house address is eligible on this webpage. If the address is within one of the 8 council districts you are within the city limits.

I tried to enroll my youth, but I was told that where I live is not eligible. I have an address within Sacramento why is my youth not eligible?

The City of Sacramento shares the same name as the county in which it resides. While you might have “Sacramento” in your address it might not be part of the City of Sacramento. More information can be found on this webpage.

I enrolled my youth in the program, but they will be out for “x” amount of time, due to a school event/vacation/sports practice/afterschool program, etc. Will this affect their enrollment in the program?

Due to the nature of the program and its monetary component, youth are only allowed one excused or unexcused absence. If there are planned missed days, we highly encourage you to enroll your youth in another session of program, that better fits their schedule. We hold sessions throughout the year.

The program was full, and I was put on the waitlist, when will we know if my youth got into the program?

When an open spot becomes available, we will contact the next youth on the waitlist by phone and email to confirm their spot on the roster. Please make sure contact information is correct and accurate on your ActiveNet account. Open spots are filled from the waitlist up until the second week of the program.

This program sounds amazing, but I can't attend in person. Are there any online options?

All instructional program sessions are held in person at identified community center for eight weeks unless noted due to holidays and city building closure.
