Pocket Road Sewer Replacement at East Shore Drive
A portion of the sewer system at the intersection of Pocket Road and East Shore Drive is being replaced to address an existing depression in the roadway and improve the condition of the intersection.
The project includes:
- Removing and replacing an existing sewer manhole
- Replacing about 50 feet of sewer main
- Repaving the intersection to permanently address the roadway depression
Traffic impacts
Certain lane and road closures are scheduled to occur in the project area.
The entrance from East Shore Drive onto Pocket Road will be closed for the duration of the project.
Drivers traveling westbound on Pocket Road will be detoured using Greenhaven Drive, Rush River Drive, Lake Front Drive and West Shore Drive before returning to Pocket Road.
During final paving, westbound Pocket Road between Greenhaven Drive and East Shore Drive are scheduled to be fully closed for about one week.
Closures are necessary because the sewer work requires significant excavation, and groundwater conditions in the area make maintaining traffic through the construction zone unsafe.
Schedule
Construction began Sept. 14 and is expected take five to six weeks to complete.
Sewer replacement work is expected to take four to five weeks, followed by one week of final paving.
Lane/road closures and paving schedules are dependent on site and weather conditions and may change.
