River District Drainage Improvements

The Department of Utilities is improving its stormwater system in the River District by installing new drainage pipes in two areas:

  • North 5th Street
  • Richards Boulevard

The current pipes cannot carry enough stormwater during heavy rain.
These improvements will help reduce flooding and support future growth in the area.
The City will coordinate with businesses and property managers during construction.

North 5th Street

This phase of the project will install 1,400 feet of new storm drainage pipe along North 5th Street, north of Richards Boulevard.

Construction is expected to last from July through December.

Impacts

The work is expected to be completed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, nearby businesses, and residents may experience temporary impacts, including lane and sidewalk closures, reduced parking and construction noise.

Some businesses may experience temporary driveway access changes.
