Bike Parking Resources

Short-Term Bike Parking

Short-term bicycle parking, sometimes called "visitor" bike parking, is convenient, publicly accessible, and typically intended for trips of two hours or less. If you're visiting a friend at an apartment building or doing some shopping downtown, this is most likely the type of bicycle parking you would use.

The City of Sacramento has over 9,000 publicly available bike parking spaces - and we are adding more all the time! Check out the "Bike Parking Requests" link below to learn how to request new bike parking for eligible locations.

Long-term Bike Parking

Long-term bicycle parking is intended for trips of two or more hours. This parking is secured, such as a private bike locker or designated bike room, and typically requires registration and a small fee to prevent misuse. Options in Sacramento include bike lockers

Keep an eye out for our upcoming secure bike parking pilot - the City has secured funding to install five new secure bike parking facilities throughout the City. Installation is targeted for Spring of 2027.
