The Urban Bicycling and Scooting 101 Class is a great introduction or refresher for people who bicycle and scoot on-street in Sacramento. This class also meets the requirements for the Sidewalk Bicycling Diversion Program*.

We offer both virtual and in-person classes. In the class, you will learn:

• Bicycling/scooting and the law
• Bicycling/scooting on the street
• Traveling through intersections
• Avoiding crashes
• How to enjoy the ride

Classes are free and held monthly. You do not need a bicycle or scooter to participate.

Summer Classes are in Session!

This Summer 2026, the Transportation Planning team is bringing the free Urban Biking & Scooting 101 class to your neighborhood. From May through August, join us for a monthly evening of learning and ride away confidently with some City of Sacramento bicycle swag. You do not need a bicycle or scooter to participate.
