On January 29, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department (SPD) Communications Center received a call for a report of a robbery in progress at a bank in the 1600 block of Response Road. The caller reported a white male adult in his 30's or 40's wearing a green jacket, blue shirt, and in possession of a black backpack, just robbed the teller. The caller advised he saw the teller give the suspect money, exit the bank, and was last seen heading toward the fire station in the 1700 block of Response Road.

Officers pursued the suspect and gave the suspect multiple commands to drop the firearm. The suspect did not drop the firearm. The suspect pointed the firearm at the officers, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.
