Desirae Fox is a wife, mother of four beautiful blessings, and a passionate community advocate that leads with love. Her two parents raised her and her four siblings to work with honor and dignity. She is a proud product of her father, Derrick Stephens, I, a Black historian routed in civil service, and a resilient mother, Kim Stephens, who brings entrepreneurship and innovation to community organizing. She gained her educational lift as a Black student in the Elk Grove Unified School District. With her parents’ guidance, and school support, she was accepted into the University of California San Diego, where she received her BA in Urban Studies and Planning. Equipped with tools, she returned home to serve South Sacramento, the community that developed her to be the woman she is today.

As a mother and working professional, she understands that success in disenfranchised communities is a complicated bowl of gumbo. You need the right pinch of all the right ingredients. Family first, community programs, spiritual homes, quality art and entertainment, community policing, and most importantly, education and civic engagement. It is challenging, and she wholeheartedly believes that every project, every meeting, and every effort matters and moves people towards a healthier tomorrow. Her goal is to join the lineage of esteemed trailblazers who have carved out a path of fortitude in community advocacy. In her service, she will support the advancement of all God's people, and be a pillar of support and wisdom for her tribe, Black Americans in the South Sacramento Community.
