Professional Development Scholarships for Individual Artists

Scholarships for Individual Artist Workshops

The Office of Arts and Culture is pleased to offer professional development scholarships to artists living within the City of Sacramento. This $100 value scholarship covers attendance for one course, class, or workshop listed on the instructor's page. Artists are awarded on a first come, first serve basis. There will be 450 scholarships available. Applications will open on our Submittable site on August 31, 2026 and will remain open through September 21, 2026 UNLESS we receive 450 applications before September 21st.

Who is Eligible?

Artists of any discipline, living within City of Sacramento limits, are eligible to apply. If you are not sure whether or not you are within City limits, please check here to find out which District you live in.

How the Scholarship Program Works

Eligible artists who are interested in taking a course, class, or workshop listed on the instructors' pages (linked below, or in the menu on the left) may submit an application through OAC’s Submittable site. Scholarships are awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Each scholarship covers ONE class on the posted schedule only. Artists may apply for ONE scholarship that covers ONE class listed on our schedule. Scholarships do not apply for any classes that are not listed on the schedule from each instructor.

Once the application window has closed, OAC staff will email successful applicants a code that will allow them to bypass payment; it is important that you list an email you frequently check, and remember to check your spam folders. OAC is not responsible for missed emails or classes. Registration for classes will be administered by the instructor on their site or platform; OAC staff does not process any class registrations. OAC will endeavor to keep each instructor's page as up to date as possible on class descriptions, dates, times, and registration links.

The scholarship application window will only be open from August 31, 2026 - September 21, 2026. Scholarship applications must be submitted through OAC's Submittable website.

In March 2027, OAC may reopen the application window a second time, only if there are available scholarships left. Those who had previously applied and received a scholarship may get another opportunity to apply again, based on availability. All instructors and classes can be found in the links below, or on the menu to the left. Please check back frequently for details if dates and times are not yet available, or check with the instructor directly.
