The Office of Arts and Culture mounts exhibitions at the Robert T. Matsui Gallery at Sacramento City Hall. The ongoing series of free public exhibitions showcase the artistic and cultural resources of the region.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

"Plantas de Poder" brings together seven plants—their histories, cultural meanings, ancestral and everyday roles, and spiritual power. Throughout history, these plants have been extracted from their cultural and spiritual contexts and transformed into commodities , generating profits for industrial monopolies and giving rise to monocultures that threaten biodiversity. They have also been persecuted and criminalized, restricting entire communities’ right to keep alive their practices, knowledge, and ways of relating to them.

Through different artistic languages, "Plantas de Poder" seeks to expand and bring diversity to what has been reduced to product, stigma, or commodity. The exhibition brings forward myths, recipes, medicinal practices, memories, and spiritual relationships as living forms of knowledge.
