Reservation information

The Joe Mims, Jr. Hagginwood Community Center can accommodate small gatherings of 30 people or large events of up to 250 people. For information regarding rentals and reservations, call 916-808-6439 or download the forms below.

Individuals may submit rental and reservation payments in form of debit or credit card to Joe Mims, Jr. Hagginwood Community Center, cash or check can be processed at the South Natomas Community Center location until further notice

All reservations MUST be made 1 year to 61 days in advance and must adhere to the City of Sacramento Facilities event cancellation policies. All payments and documents MUST be turned in and completed 60 days prior to your event booking. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please read your contract carefully when signing and initialing. Signatures and initials on contract are binding.

Use of the Grantland Johnson Field after sunset may not occur when the field is unlit. Reservations to light the field must be for a minimum of one (1) hour. When completing your Application for Athletic Field Use [PDF], please list your end time. Do not list your end time as “dusk or “dark”. Consult the Athletic Field Guide [PDF] for more information.

Individuals must submit forms for each entity they wish to use. Submitting a form for the Hagginwood Community Center does not automatically guarantee or include use of the Grantland Johnson Field, the basketball court, park amenities, or vice versa.

Programs

Joe Mims, Jr. Hagginwood Community Center programs:

REC Express

Mon. – Fri. (3 p.m. - 6 p.m.)

Rec Express after-school program is an eclectic blend of fun, excitement, and education! Mentors will facilitate an array of STEAM based activities. Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math will guide our program into the exciting world of discovery. Youth will be able to learn while playing fun games, building creative art projects, engaging in healthy online social interactions and MORE! This FREE program will be limited to a first come, first serve basis and registration is REQUIRED! This program is geared towards children ages 6yrs - 11yrs.

Teen Scene

Mon. – Fri. (3 p.m. - 6 p.m.)

Teen Scene Afterschool Program is going to be on Fire! Featuring special events, activities, and field trips. Such as: Foodie Fridays, Madden Tournaments, Sewing class, Bowling, Skating, K1 Speed and much, much more! Teens will be engaged and have fun in a safe and positive environment. It starts with you, Let’s Go!! This program is geared towards teens ages 12yrs - 17yrs. Preregistration is REQUIRED!

All special events, field trips or activities are subject to change or cancellation.

Hot Spot

Monthly on Thurs. (6 p.m. - 8 p.m.)

Hot Spot is a program designed especially for teens. A special event night that features a theme with food, fun activities, and giveaways. All events or activities are subject to change or cancellation.

Healthy Beginnings Tai Chi / Qi Gong Hagginwood

Tue and Thurs (10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.)

Tai Chi is an internal martial art which uses the body’s own energy to protect and heal itself. It is taught standing or sitting with slow, gentle, and highly effective movements. These movements help build muscle strength, improve balance and flexibility. This exercise is accessible to many different people and ages.

Senior Cafe

Mon. – Fri. (9a.m.- 2p.m.)

Mims / Hagginwood Senior Café is a lively gathering place that help maintain our client’s sense of community and connectedness. Seniors can drink coffee and or tea, play board games and socialize.

Senior’s Big Bang Bingo

Monthly on Tues. (12p.m.- 1:30p.m.)

Come join the Hagginwood family and have some Big Bang fun with some Bingo. We will have bingo every second Tuesday of the month; bingo will include various prizes and some snacks for our participants. Blackout, four corners and other Bingo games.

Senior’s Tech Time

Weekly on Fri. (11a.m.- 12p.m.)

Seniors can sign up to learn core concepts of technology and various approaches to problem solving. This class is aimed towards helping seniors feel more comfortable with today’s technological problems. This will be for ½ or 1hr for a specific tech problem that a participant may encounter. Registration is required.

Meals on Wheels

Monday Thru Friday (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.)

This program is available to individuals 60 years old or better who are interested in getting out of the house and meeting others over a delicious hot lunch.

Meals On Wheels meals are co-developed by a registered dietitian and our partner, TRIO Community Meals. With regular input from our participants, we strive to make sure that all meals are not only healthy and delicious, but also meet 1/3 of the Dietary Reference Intake for seniors to stay healthy and get their nutrients.

Meals on Wheels partner, non-profit, ACC Senior Services, has a no-fee transportation program that provides door-to-door transportation in Sacramento and Elk Grove.
