South Sacramento Floodplain

The City of Sacramento, the County of Sacramento, the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, the State Department of Water Resources, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed work to the Sacramento River and Morrison Creek levees.

This work resulted in the FEMA re-mapping of the South Sacramento Floodplain.

Effective May 12, 2014, a large portion of property within the South Sacramento Streams Group was remapped by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The new floodplain designation will remove some areas from the Special Flood Hazard Area.

As of November 15, 2010, 1,100 homes west of Morrison Creek were removed from the Special Flood Hazard Area
