Project Background

The Vision Zero School Safety Project is part of the City of Sacramento’s ongoing effort to improve safety for people walking, biking and traveling near schools.

The improvements are based on recommendations from the City’s Vision Zero School Safety Study, which evaluated safety and access conditions near 20 Sacramento schools. Recommendations were developed through technical evaluations and consultation with school communities.

The project is intended to make travel to and from school safer and more comfortable for students, families and others traveling near these campuses.

Project Funding

Funding for this project includes $1.7 million in federal Community Project Funding and $550,000 from the City of Sacramento’s Major Street Construction Fund.
