Lampasas Avenue & Rio Linda Boulevard Intersection
Project overview
The objective of this project is to enhance safety at the Lampasas Avenue and Rio Linda Boulevard intersection. The project consists of installing pedestrian crossings, pedestrian refuge islands, restriping and realigning lanes, and transitioning the northeast leg of Lampasas Avenue to serve only one-way traffic exiting the intersection.
Existing conditions
The Lampasas Avenue and Rio Linda Boulevard intersection is a four-way unsignalized intersection with stop signs controlling traffic originating from the west Lampasas Avenue and southwest Rio Linda Boulevard legs. Neither the southeast Lampasas Avenue nor the north Rio Linda Boulevard legs are controlled by signs or signals. There are no painted crosswalks. Currently there is one overhead streetlight and three lamp posts within the intersection area.
Project benefits
The Lampasas Avenue and Rio Linda Boulevard Intersection Improvement Project will make several improvements that will benefit the community including:
- Improved pedestrian crossings
- Reduced pedestrian exposure
- Reduced conflict points in the intersection
- Improved lighting in the intersection
- Safety improvements for people walking and driving

The City was awarded federal funding for the design and construction of the Lampasas Avenue and Rio Linda Boulevard Intersection Improvement Project.
