Streamline Sacramento, launched in 2025 by Mayor Kevin McCarty and Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum, is a City Council initiative to identify improvements to the City’s development approval process. It brings together staff from six City departments that support development projects: Community Development, Economic Development, Public Works, Utilities, Finance and Fire.

The initiative is focused on making the permitting process more consistent, timely, and predictable, with the goal of increasing housing and economic development activity throughout the city. The working group focuses on improving the permitting process from application and plan review through final inspections and occupancy.
