Free Dump Days
Dump Day on May 3rd was a success! We had 450 vehicles dump over 205 tonnes of garbage for free, along with 26 tonnes of combined Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste, as well as many tires, appliances and mattresses.
There will be a second Dump Day in the fall. Check back here in August for updates.
The free Dump Day program is only for City of Sacramento residents who have an address within City limits.
Acceptable Materials
The following items will be accepted on a limited basis:
- General Household Garbage and Waste: metal, plastic, fiberglass, fabric, glass, untreated wood, and landscape trimmings
- Tires: (up to 4 each per vehicle) tires must be removed from rims
- Mattresses, box springs, and futon mattresses: (up to 4 each per vehicle) detached from frame or base
- Select Household Appliances: (no refrigerators or appliances with compressed gas accepted)
- E-waste: including televisions, computer monitors and accessories, VCRs, CD/DVD players, stereo equipment, microwaves, etc.
- Household Hazardous Waste: paint, batteries, oils, acids, aerosol cans, household chemicals, corrosives, and hazardous bases (These items will be collected separately from trash once on site)
The following items will NOT be accepted:
- Treated wood waste
- Concrete, dirt, rocks, asphalt, sand, brick or construction materials
- Asbestos of any type Compressed gas Appliances with freon or compressed gas (including refrigerators and air conditioners)
- Business or commercial waste (no commercial trucks or vehicles permitted)
Not accepted: construction and demolition materials
