Citation Fines

State surcharges

A surcharge totaling $12.50 is added to all parking citations in accordance to the California State Budget Act of 2010. This surcharge is a mandatory collection that goes directly to the State of California and cannot be waived. This requirement went into effect on July 1, 2008.

The summary of the surcharge is as follows:

Citation fines for Sacramento City Codes

All schedule fees are for reference purposes only and do not invalidate any amount reflected on the citation. Current fine amounts are available on the City Fee & Charge Report.

Fee schedules posted do not include the $12.50 mandatory surcharge collected by the State of California.

Resources

Parking codes are generally found under Title 10 and 12 of the Sacramento City Code. Citations must be paid or contested within 21 calendar days from date of issuance.

Zero-interest payment plans are available that may reduce total fees owed or spread the amount out over a series of months to assist with payments.
