SPDR Exemption: Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Identify & complete form for project type

Not located in historic district or at a landmark property or more than 50 years old.
If a project does not fall within one of the above categories, the Design Director can consider projects that do not substantially alter the exterior appearance of a structure or site. For these requests, use the following form:

Step 2: Submit form via email

Email the form, plans, and pictures to planning@cityofsacramento.org.

Step 3: Submit approved form with building permit application

Submit approved SPDR exemption form with your building permit application to the Building Division.
