The Front Street Animal Shelter has compiled a comprehensive list of clinics and programs to help owners and their furry family members, ranging from medical services to health care to behavior modification to social and emotional support.
BEGINNING ON NOVEMBER 8, 2026: Due to increased costs in services and high demand of Sacramento residents, we will now be requiring proof of residency within the City of Sacramento. Evidence of residency will require a photo ID with a Sacramento City address or a photo ID with a utility bill from the last 90 days.
Limited parking is available in the gravel lot. Do NOT park at the California Auto Museum or in spaces where signs are posted. Vehicle towing will be enforced.

Free spay and neuter for cats and dogs
- Spay or neuter your cat or dog for free by applying for a voucher through Front Street Animal Shelter's program that assists low-income residents in the City of Sacramento.

Emotional support animal
This document lists local housing rights organizations that assist pet owners facing discrimination or unlawful practices and work alongside tenants to protect their rights when they are challenged by housing providers. It also specifies laws requiring housing providers to reasonably accommodate people with disabilities to have an emotional support animal despite "no pet" clauses on the housing lease.
