The Recycling and Solid Waste Division provides garbage, recycling, organic waste collection and street sweeping to more than 133,000 residential customers in the City of Sacramento. The division collects approximately 250,000 tons of waste and material, and sweeps more than 150,000 miles of public right-away every year. Yard waste comprises 80,000 tons of the annual material collection, with about 25,000 tons picked up just during leaf season. Recycling amounts to 35,000 tons of material a year.
The Division also manages several programs and initiatives including the new organics recycling curbside program implemented in July 2022, Sutter's Landing Park (the old landfill), reusable bag ordinance, Solar Park at Sutter's Landing, and other projects.
If you need to contact the Recycling and Solid Waste Division for a service request, call Customer Service at 3-1-1 (916-264-5011 outside City limits) or email us at sacrecycle@cityofsacramento.org
