Metered and non-metered spaces are regulated by parking operating hours. These are the hours and days when meter payments and time limits are enforced.
Any hours or days beyond parking operating hours are referred to as "unrestricted". There are no time limits or meter payments required during unrestricted hours. For example, if parking operating hours are 8 a.m. - 10 p.m., then all hours betweem 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. the next morning are unrestricted.
Operating hours differ by parking location. Start and end times may be viewed on the Parking Operating Hours Map, on signage posted on the street, or on meter screens located at the meters.
Standard operating hours include any of following times and days of the week, based on location.:
All residential areas posted with Residential Permit Parking (RPP) in downtown and midtown have operating hours that end at 10 p.m., regardless of location.
As one of the busiest tourist areas in Sacramento, Old Sacramento parking operating hours are independent of the standard days and hours found throughout downtown and midtown.
Old Sacramento operating hours are enforced all seven days of the week, including holidays, from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. at all meters and time-limited parking spaces.
