We need your help to continue our mission. Your support enables us to give quality care to the thousands of animals that come to our shelter each year, provides emergency and advanced veterinary care for sick or injured animals, and helps animals and people in our community outside our shelter walls.

Donate in honor of someone you love
Make a donation online in honor of someone -- to celebrate a birthday, wedding, holiday, or another special occasion -- or in memory of someone. If you wish, you can request an acknowledgement of your donation to be sent by mail or email to the honoree or the family.
Donate dog and cat food
We accept all brands of non-prescription dog food and cat food.
- Close to the expiration date is ok
- Opened bags are okay but please securely tape shut before donating
- Sealed cans or other unopened wet food is ok
- Food must be clearly labeled
Please drop off your donated food at the Front Street Animal Shelter (2127 Front Street, Sacramento CA 95818), 7 days a week, from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

Donate pet items
You can drop off your donated pet items at the shelter, 7 days a week, from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Look for the large, yellow bins in the lobby of the Main Building. During these drop-off times, we have volunteers to bring in and distribute your donation. Please don't leave items in front of the shelter. We greatly appreciate your support and understanding!
Items we need
- Bath/wading/splash pool (small, foldable/collapsible)
- Cat toys
- Dryer sheets
- Towels
- Blankets
- Dog houses (any size. new or gently used. solid sides. floor and roof required.)
- Dog toys (preferably durable)
- Pet Treats (especially small, soft treats)
- Plastic travel crates / pet carriers
- Dry cat food and dry dog food (unopened and opened)
- Canned cat food and dog food (unopened only)
- Collars and leashes (new or gently used)
- Kitten formula
Items we do NOT need
- Pillows
- Medication (return them to your vet for safe disposal)
Will and bequests
Provide a gift and leave a legacy by including the Front Street Animal Shelter in your estate plan. What you put in your will is what people will remember you by. Your will gives you the opportunity to transfer the values that are important to you.
Have a fundraiser
Organize a do-it-yourself fundraiser benefitting the Front Street Animal Shelter. Ideas include:
- Having a birthday, wedding, or other celebration where donations are collected instead of gifts
- Having a donation drive at your workplace
- Kids can make a huge impact by holding a lemonade stand or car wash
- Host an event, such as a paint night or a walk, and collect donations as an entrance fee
- If you're a business owner, donate a percentage of each item sold for a period of time, or have your cashiers ask customers if they'd like to make a donation
