Public Participation Hub

The City of Sacramento welcomes public participation at City Council, City Council Standing Committees, and City Commission meetings. Members of the public may participate by watching the meeting online or in person, submitting written comments, providing public comment in person at any meeting, or participating in person or by phone during City Council meetings.

To help make participation easier, members of the public are encouraged to visit the City's new Public Participation Hub to leave written comments on agenda items and register to make public comments at a meeting. 

Watch Meetings

Attending City Council and City Commission meetings in person is encouraged whenever possible. For residents who are unable to attend or prefer to follow along remotely, meetings are streamed live and recordings are available through the Metro Cable Channel 14 on DirecTV U-verse and Comcast in the Sacramento area and on the City's official YouTube channel:

Live broadcasts include AI-generated closed captions in English and Spanish, making it easier for more community members to follow meeting discussions in real time. After each meeting, recordings remain available on YouTube, where viewers can use YouTube's built-in translation features to view captions in more than 100 languages supported by the platform.

Submit Written Comments

Members of the public may submit written comments through the All Meetings tab on this website after an agenda is posted and until the close of the meeting.

To ensure written comments are included with the meeting materials and provided to the City Council, City Council Standing Committee, or City Commission for consideration, please submit comments through the All Meetings tab on they City's participation platform.

Comments received through other methods, such as email, may not be included as part of the meeting record.

Written comments submitted to the City are not confidential and may be subject to disclosure under the California Public Records Act. Please do not include personal or confidential information in written comments that you do not want made publicly available. 

Speak at Meetings

Using the new digital speaker slip to request to speak at City Council and City Commission meetings members may begain to register to make comments  once the meeting agenda is published. The opportunity to speak remainsopen until the conclusion of the staff presentation on the agenda item.

Register to Speak

This provides residents with additional time and flexibility to submit their request to speak before public comment closes and secure their placement in the speaking queue. For City Council meetings, residents who are unable to attend in person also have the option to participate by phone. Phone participation is not available for City Commission meetings.
