Financial Empowerment Center

The City of Sacramento’s Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) offers FREE professional one-on-one financial coaching and student loan counseling for residents of Sacramento who are 18 and older.

Financial Coaching is for those who would like support in building long-term financial health through:

  • Reducing debt
  • Building savings 
  • Improving credit, and/or
  • Connecting with safe, affordable checking/saving accounts

This service has no income restrictions and is FREE. Coaching is available directly in English, Spanish, Dari, Farsi, and Urdu, or through interpretation in Pashto, Russian, Ukrainian, or Arabic upon request.

Student Loan Counseling Program

New for fall 2024! The Financial Empowerment Center team has added a new team member focused on student loan counseling. We know this is a confusing issue for many people, so our new counselor is here to help.

Please note that we cannot offer financial coaching services to individuals living outside of Sacramento County.

The City’s Financial Empowerment Manager is Amy Williamson, who joined staff in the fall of 2019. Prior to her move to the public sector, she had 15 years of experience building and managing financial opportunity programs in Sacramento through local nonprofit organizations.
