About the Mural
The 5000 sq ft vinyl mural celebrates the rich biodiversity of the American River Watershed, featuring over 60 species woven into a composition inspired by the Miwok Creation Story. The artist, Liv Losee-Unger of ORLUarts, worked with neighborhood stakeholders, the Wilton Rancheria, American River enthusiasts, and scientists to develop the mural and complimentary teaching packet

Liv spent many weeks working on design concepts and draft renditions to finalize the mural details. Her research was arduous and thorough, consulting with the many partners established in the artist selection and design review process. The final design is beautiful, engaging and enchanting while at the same time serving as an educational tool accessible to all.
