I've submitted my application, can you confirm you received it/I uploaded my work samples correctly?
Given the magnitude of this program, we are not staffed to individually go through applications and confirm links are correct, open properly, or anything of the like. Please make sure that before you submit your application, you make sure you have included the correct links and files. There is no editing your application once you have submitted it.
I don't live in City of Sacramento limits right now, but will be moving into city limits soon. Can I still apply?
No. You must already be a resident at the time of your submission. Proof of residency dated within the last 60 days is required at the time of submission; your application will be disqualified if you cannot provide it.
Can I fill out the application in a language other than English?
No; unfortunately, we do not have the capabilities to accurately translate applications in other languages. All answers for the application must be in English.
Will I be taxed for this grant? Will I receive a 1099?
Aidkit, the company that will be issuing the monthly payments, will distribute a 1099-MISC to grantees. Whether this is taxable will depend on each individual’s circumstances; please refer to a tax specialist for further guidance. The City cannot advise on tax issues.
I don’t see my discipline listed in the acceptable disciplines list- can I still apply?
If you do not see your discipline listed, you likely are not eligible. Please also take care to read which fields or disciplines are ineligible as well.
I live outside of Sacramento but my business/practice is located in Sacramento; am I eligible?
No. Unfortunately, this grant is limited to artists who live within the City of Sacramento.

You can find out if you live within City limits and which district you are in by using this search tool.
How will this program impact my public assistance benefits?
If you are currently receiving public assistance benefits, being part of the Creative Growth Fellowship program may affect your eligibility to continue receiving those benefits. Please check with benefit agencies to determine how or if eligibility might be impacted by receipt of these funds. The City of Sacramento is not responsible for any loss of benefits due to grant award.
Can I apply more than once?
The program will only accept one application per person. Submitting multiple applications will disqualify you from enrollment.
How long does the application process take?
Once you have drafted your responses and collected all materials to be uploaded, the application can be filled out in approximately 30 minutes. You can start your application and complete it at a later time. However, you may not edit your application once you submit it.
Do I need to be a permanent resident or a U.S. citizen to participate?
This program is open to all residents of the City of Sacramento, regardless of citizenship status. That means that if you are not a legal resident and you meet the eligibility criteria above, you are eligible to participate. You will not be asked about your citizenship or immigration status in the application, and we will not share information regarding legal immigration status with any government agency, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) unless required by law or court order.
How will my information be used?
This application will ask questions to help us determine your eligibility for the Creative Growth Fellowship program. None of the information you provide will be shared with other parties without your consent, except as required for program administration and by law. We will securely store any information you share in the application stage. In the unlikely event of a data breach, you will be informed. Payment options and information related to payment must be provided in the application to be considered for funding.
