Sacramentans speak almost 50 different languages. Nearly 39% of residents (197,902 people) in the City of Sacramento speak a language other than English at home. More than 84,577 (16.7%) people in the City speak English less than very well i.e. have Limited English Proficiency (LEP). (1)
The City of Sacramento can provide assistance in multiple languages, including the top LEP languages in the City of Sacramento: Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hmong, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Punjabi, Russian, Persian (Dari, Farsi), Hindi, and many others.

Interpretation Services
If you would like to request interpretation for an upcoming City meeting or event, please submit your request at least 72 hours in advance. For American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation requests, please submit your request 11 business days in advance for in-person interpretation and 6 business days in advance for virtual interpretation.
