Meadowview Trail Tree Planting

On April 18th, the Climate Action and Sustainability (CAS) team hosted a tree planting event along a shared-use path in Meadowview. This event was made possible through partnership with Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment (YPCE), the Department of Utilities, and many other community groups, including the Sacramento Tree Foundation and Meadowview Urban Tree Project. A total of 140 volunteers participated and:

  • Planted 41 native and drought-tolerant trees
  • Spread 30 yards of mulch

This tree planting event was part of the broader Equitable and Resilient Urban Forest project, which is funded by an Urban and Community Forestry grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, in partnership with GreenLatinos. With support from this grant funding, YPCE has planted nearly 500 trees in disadvantaged communities over two planting seasons.
