Tenant Protection Program

Registering Your Rental Property

Property owners with rental properties located within the Sacramento city limits and, subject to the Tenant Protection and Relief Act (TPRA), will be mailed a “Property Registration” Form and “Exemption Request”. It is the property owners’ responsibility to ensure their property/properties are registered.

IF YOU DO NOT REGISTER YOUR PROPERTY/PROPERTIES, YOU WILL BE SUBJECT TO ADMINISTRATIVE PENALTIES.

Registering your property online

Annual registration, new property owner registration, and exemptions can be completed online.

Please note that all exemptions, including owner-occupied and subsidized units, must be renewed or requested annually. Failure to submit a renewal or request or verification of the exemption will result in the removal of any previously approved exemption. See Sacramento City Code Chapter 5.156.030 for a complete list of exemptions
