Steps to registering your property

If ALL information on the Property Registration Form is correct and you are not requesting an exemption of any units, you may complete the online registration. Please proceed to the online registration form.

If you register online, please do not mail or email your form as this will delay processing of your registration.

If your property is exempt under the Tenant Protection and Relief Act Ordinance (Sacramento City Code Chapter 5.156 .030), please read “Exemption Request” instructions.

New property owners

New property owners do not meet the criteria for registering online. Please complete the Property Registration form you received in the mail and follow the steps below.

  1. Check the box “New Property Owner” located on the “Property Registration” form.
  2. Complete the form, and return it to the Tenant Protection Program.

How to file an Exemption Request:

  1. Check the box “Annual Renewal or New Registration” on the Property Registration Form.
  2. Complete the Property Registration.
  3. Complete an Exemption Request for each exempt unit.
  4. The Property Registration Form must be returned with the Exemption Request Form(s). If the Property Registration is not returned, the Exemption Request will be deemed incomplete and you will be subject to payment of program fees.

Please sign and date ALL forms submitted to our office.
