Alex Cadenas was born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. In 2001, at the age of 14, he migrated with his family to California. After graduating from Rio Vista School, Alex attended CSU Sacramento, earning a bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Spanish. His career experience has predominantly focused on outreach and communication with Spanish-speaking communities through radio, television, and social media in Sacramento and the surrounding counties.

In 2018, Alex joined the California Department of Pesticide Regulation’s Worker Health and Safety Branch as an Outreach and Education Specialist. His outreach duties include providing pesticide safety information to agricultural fieldworkers and their families, as well as information to the public regarding the use of pesticides in and around the home.

Alex also represents the department in meetings, conferences, and community events, collaborating directly with fieldworkers, community organizations, indigenous farmworker groups, consulates, Promotores de Salud (community health care liaisons), media outlets, and advocates. During these engagements, he provides outreach materials designed to increase awareness of pesticide worker safety issues and concerns.
