Mina is the founder and President/CEO of the Vida de Oro Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the arts, enhancing the community and creating economic development. Growing up in Del Paso Heights since 1964, she has met with many famous and influential people, including the late Maya Angelou, who gave her these profound words of advice, “Child you are not ready. Prepare yourself, for you will do wondrous things, the community is waiting.” Through the Vida de Oro organization, she has coordinated numerous events and activities that have impacted the Sacramento community, including the establishment of the Sacramento Taco Festival and the yearly Prom Dress giveaway.
She is the proud mother of 5 grown children, 3 grandchildren and was a wife of 40 years to Adrian Perez. More recently she became the first Latina in 100 years to serve as Vice Chair of the North Sacramento Chamber of Commerce, which was established in 1924.
